Just what the doctor ordered

I get migraines every once in awhile. When I do, there's really nothing I can do or take to make them go away. I normally just have to lay in a dark, quiet room and try to sleep them off. Well, as you can imagine with a two year old and a newborn to take care of a dark, quiet room isn't exactly available. Several doctors have told me to try drinking caffeine. Something about the blood vessels in the brain contracting causing the migraines and the caffeine opening them up. When I called my doctor this morning she also recommended drinking a Coke. As a recovering Dr. Pepper addict I've always avoided this advice. However on such an occasion as today which started out by waking up at 5:00 a.m. with a numb left hand and lips I decided I would give in. And if I was going to have caffeine after 3 years of abstaining, I had to do it right....

Oh yum. So far it's working. Hooray!

You couldn't just go for the can of Dr. Pepper eh? You had to go for the Big Gulp!?!?!

Wow! Three years off of caffeine, that's amazing. My doctor told me the same thing while I was pregnant with Kate, he said the caffeine would help. I guess if the doctor orders it you have to listen!

I gave up the "caffine" about 11 years ago - but when I was traveling and burned my tounge, the only thing nearby was a friend Coke. I took a sip, sad to say, I loved it. I miss DP too, caffine free just is not the same, but I won't ask for migranes. Hope you can survive!!!

You must have the same doctor I do, she told me the same thing. Well, she said to take Tylenol with a Coke. I love Coke and I love Dr Pepper. I've pretty much quite caffeine, too, but when I get a headache, nothing else works as well.

I miss Diet Pepsi...I know it is not good for me, so I was really glad to have the excuse to stop because I was pregnant, but I still miss it...sigh
